In 2022, I had the honor and privilege of joining the SCBWI Conference Planning Committee for the Mid-Atlantic Region. Over the course of a year, we scheduled speakers, selected expert-led sessions, planned online webinars, and more. I met some wonderful people through the process, including (of course) my fellow committee members, Katie Sivinski, Lee Gjertsen, and D.C. Dador, and the Mid-Atlantic Co-Regional Advisors, Erin Teagan and Valerie Patterson. The best team a lady could ask for! It was such a rewarding experience and delightful event, bringing kidlit writers and illustrators together from across the region.
